Keira Knightley: Social media is a wormhole that I don’t need to go down | Entertainment
Keira Knightley says social media is a “wormhole that I don’t need to go down”.
The ‘Love Actually’ star thinks it would be “exhausting” to make her life “more perfect than it is” online and has resisted the urge to become a social media user.
She said, “I’m so happy [not being on social media].
“I had little moments, I mean, not for years, where I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I should do this’ or ‘I should at least do this in private.’ And then I thought to myself. said, ‘No, I shouldn’t.'”
The 37-year-old actress – who has Edie, six, and Delilah, two, with husband James Righton – has also been put off by her friends receiving “depressed” scrolling apps.
She continued, “And what’s really funny is obviously most of my friends are in it and all they talk about is how depressed it makes them. So I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m definitely not going to do that then.'”
Keira added to PEOPLE, “I would just be obsessed with trying to make my life a lot more perfect than it is, and that seems pretty exhausting.
“Honestly…I just think it’s a wormhole that I don’t need to go down.”
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star has already joined a number of social media apps but didn’t last more than a day as she was ‘freaked out’ by the experience.
She said in 2019: “I had an account for about five seconds. I watched it rack up, like, 100 subscribers in three seconds and freaked out so much that I deactivated it right away. . And then Facebook. I was on for a day 10 years ago, and I’ve never posted anything on it, but it still emails me like I’m a member or whatever.”
